12 Years Old Again: What Is Your Wish? – Podcast Discussion

By Dave Pratt

The Honest Answer

The standard, politically correct answer is “Nothing. I wouldn’t change a thing”.  Bullshit.

But in this potential podcast discussion, I’ve got a different answer.

I wish I had paid more attention to the ugly girls with braces, like Stacey Rotherfield and Susie Zillman. Man, things changed quickly.

I wish that I had never fallen for that whole Sea Monkeys thing.

Childhood Memories and Regrets

I wish that I had never done the hot lunch program at Northside Elementary. It was always some kind of unknown meat with gravy or boiled hot dogs, mixed frozen vegetables, and Jello squares with rock-hard whipped cream.

I wish that I could have completed the pegboard in P.E., without using my feet on the wall.

I wish my first slow dance hadn’t been with Deanna McDonald to 10cc “I’m Not In Love”…….. I fell in love.

I wish that I had never spent so much money on Clearasil and Stridex. It never worked.

Teenage Choices and Lessons

I wish that I had kept my 1977 Pontiac Trans Am.

I wish that I had cut my hair just in case it ended up in stupid old pictures.

I wish that my CB name could have been something cooler than “Boogie Shoes”.

I wish my best friend Wade had given me a disguise when he talked me into streaking a woman’s softball game.

I wish that I had scored more points in my senior year against Incline.

Growing Up and Realizing Truths

I wish Bobby Borland had not gotten me laughing when I gave the Benediction at my high school graduation.

I wish somebody had told me that a career in radio was not like the WKRP television show. It was far more absurd.

I wish that I had known the difference between making money and winning. Making money feels good, but winning feels great. After a while, it’s not about the money. It’s about the game.

I wish I had known that my little dorm room and studio apartment were awesome!

Life, Timing, and Regret

I wish that I had never joined the Columbia Records and Tape Club.

I wish that I had gotten married a few years later, but had kids a few years earlier.

I wish that I had accepted the offer to tour with pro wrestling as a ring announcer, just for a year or so. It was fun!

I wish that I had not been drinking Wild Turkey when I decided to get my head shaved in a bar with sheep shears. For the next 6 months, I looked like Inmate #009898

I wish that I had started our podcast network and marketing agency 5 years earlier.

I wish that I had bet on Golden Tempo to win the Kentucky Derby.

I wish that my dog Rio had lived 20 years longer

How about you?

Perhaps you can record a podcast about it 😉
